Ala-Kul, also known as Alakul or Ala-Kol, graces the eastern expanse of the majestic Terskey Ala-Too Range, nestled on the southern fringes of Lake Issyk-Kul, in proximity to the enchanting city of Karakol. This expansive high-mountain glacial lake, ensconced within the vast basin between the Karakol and Altyn-Arashan Canyons, captivates beholders with its resplendent allure.
Devoid of runoff, Ala-Kul stands as a testament to nature's grandeur, its name in Kyrgyz dialect echoing the essence of the locale – a "motley lake." The scenery unfolds as a breathtaking canvas where the vivid turquoise waters harmonize seamlessly with the rugged mountains, pristine snow, verdant grasslands, and a tapestry of blooming flowers.
Beyond the sheer beauty of Ala-Kul, adventurers are beckoned by the enthralling trekking routes leading to its shores. Two distinct paths unfold before eager explorers: one meandering through the picturesque Karakol Gorge, and the other navigating the enchanting Altyn-Arashan Gorge. The latter, however, demands conquering the formidable Ala-Kul pass, standing tall at an elevation of 3900 meters. Many intrepid travelers opt for the circular route, embarking on a journey that begins in one gorge and concludes in the other, weaving an immersive tale of nature's wonders.
Song-Kol, also known as Sonkol, Song-Köl, and Son-Kul, graces the heart of the Naryn region in Kyrgyzstan, nestled amidst the inner spurs of the majestic Tien Shan mountain range. This substantial mountain lake, situated at an impressive altitude of 3016 meters above sea level, enchants visitors with its untouched meadows and the protective embrace of the Sonköltoo and Moldotoo ridges, creating an idyllic haven for eco-tourism enthusiasts.
"Kol-Ukok," meaning "The Lake in a Chest*," lies nestled between the steep slopes of the North-Eastern Terskei Ala Too Mountains, creating a picturesque haven. The lake's waters, cool and invigorating, reach a maximum depth of 17 meters. A diverse aquatic community thrives beneath the surface, featuring the graceful white fish and the majestic Savan trout, adorned with vibrant hues.
