Trekking tour to the scenic lake Kol-Ukok / 2 days
Trekking
"Kol-Ukok," meaning "The Lake in a Chest*," lies between the steep slopes of the North-Eastern Terskei Ala Too Mountains, creating a picturesque haven. A depth reaches 17 meters and it's a home to fish like the white fish and the colorful Savan trout.
The peaceful lakeshore offers a quiet escape, with chances to spot marmots, badgers, eagles, and hawks along the way. The area is also home to wolves, foxes, hares, and mountain goats, living in harmony with nature.
Wildflowers like forget-me-nots and edelweiss color the landscape, while edible plants like rhubarb and wild garlic have sustained locals for generations. From May to October, nomadic families settle here with their cattle, continuing centuries-old traditions.
During your visit, you'll experience the shepherd's lifestyle, learning how Kyrgyz milk products are made—like kymyz (fermented mare’s milk), airan (Kyrgyz yogurt), and kurut (dried salty cheese). Watch locals milk cows and horses, bake fresh bread, and share their rich culture and warm hospitality.
